Economic Reforms- a beginning

After a lull, we have heard some announcements on economic reforms in India. It is planned that utility services in new smart cities be handled by private operators.  While the decision is welcome, care should be taken that there is multiple service provider for each of the services in each such smart City. This will provide additional avenues for business to Indians, who park their idle money in non-productive assets like land and gold. Further, competition among service providers will insure efficient services at right prices.

Further, there is amendment in Coal Mines Act to enable the allotment of coal mining for commercial purposes. It is high time, Private Companies give fair competition to Coal India for providing adequate coal to our industry. Coal India can also separately list its subsidiaries to insure competition among them.

Our Govt. has also initiated discussions and dialogues for raising the rank of India to 50 from 134 at present for ease of doing business. It can certainly be done with change in mindset. We need to respect the entrepreneur and his capital. He also needs protection of his capital and should not be at the receiving end, in case his license is cancelled. We must take into consideration his investments before taking any call. If we become business friendly, more and more people will join business providing fair competition. This will spur the research, innovation and ultimately reduce the cost of goods and services.

My heartiest greeting for Deepawali for one and all.

Deepawali is the festival of "Deep". When a number of small Deeps are lit together in the night of "Amavasya", the "Andhakar" of dark night vanishes. This demonstrates the power of tiny "Deeps" in win over the darkness. This signifies that If we all tiny human beings with great ideas combine together to overcome the ills of the giant society, we can do wonders.

Let us take a vow in the new year (The day after Diwali is celebrated as new year by large number of hindus in Northern India) to come together to share our novel ideas and join hands to fulfil them.

Let us all try to become tiny "Deep" for large number of Indian children.

We all know that our Indian Childhood is divided in several castes and classes.

Division of Society according to caste decided by birth is the age-old ill in our society and lot has been written and discussed about it.

The latest such class is created by dual education system. There are separate schools for rich and poor. Schools for rich are run on modern lines involving personality development apart from imparting general education. The schools for poor just cover up the syllabus for examination. Since there is significant difference in the social background of the parents of the children going to different set of schools, the gap in the thought perception of the two sets of children is created. This thought process alongwith career selection go a long way in shaping their adulthood. While most of the children graduating through elite schools get pre-placed, others find it hard to get jobs and ready to pay bribe for a Govt. service and get cheated. This creates the serious danger in the society. This is also the cause of extortion racket and other law and order problems. Jobless hands are biggest danger to any society. 


We, the previledged and responsible citizens of the society should try to run the personality development and information sharing program for the deprived children for influencing their thought process and career opportunities available to them.

We can also built up a job exchange platform for SMEs and semi-skilled youths.

Swachh Bharat and village adoption by MPs

Though we are yet to hear any news about removing the hurdles to start business in India, We should welcome swachh bharat as well as village adoption scheme. While we all should strive to clean our locality, we should assert our right over conservancy workers to remove the accumulated garbage at the earliest, so that it does not stink. There should not be any politics in it. Further, village adoption scheme by a MP is a good idea. Each MP should concentrate in a single village for a year and allocate his MPLAD scheme funds for development of water conservation schemes, local power generating units through solar, gobar gas and utilising agriculture wastes apart from improving the connectivity with nearby towns or cities. It would be better if the cluster approach is adopted, where a group of about ten villages with combined population about 25000-30000 are formed into a cluster and cluster development plan is adopted. At many times, the education and health centres in rural areas fail for lack of proper support staff. If one particular village is developed with proper connectivity and infrastructure, it can be successful and people of nearby villages will benefit too. The MP has to take the initiative and meet the villagers to sell the idea honestly.
